The Europe-link Background Briefing Service Being introduced in stages from 2003, this service offers a set of 30 to 50 constantly updated subject-specific briefings on issues in product approvals. Subjects are both sectoral (e.g., machinery, chemicals) and m ulti-sectoral (e.g., product labelling, declarations of conformity, energy-saving). For each subject, the briefing offers a perspective-setting overview of EU systems; the sources of detailed information, with particular emphasis on free-of-charge Internet sources; recent news in brief; and tips and traps in this field.
